Moulin Rouge - Come What May

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
That is the most memorable quote from the movie Moulin Rouge. I can't believe that it's actually almost a decade after this movie was relesead in 2001 that I first watched this movie.
I think this movie is superb. An amazing love story. Here are the reasons why I like this movie:

1. It's a way better version of Romeo-Juliet love story.
I think the Leo DeCaprio and Claire Danes' Romeo + Juliet love story is stupid. They make life seems priceless with the "you die I die" thing

2. It's musical.
Haha... It's no secret that I'm a fan of anything musical :p Also the cinematography, the colour, the costumes, the montage created gives amazing feeling to the movie.

3. Amazing actors.
Great performances by the actors makes you feel the joy, pain and love at each scenes of the film.


Also I choose some of memorable lines from the movies:

Satine: I don't need you anymore! All my life you made believe I was only worth what someone would pay for me! But Christian loves me. He loves me! He loves me, Harold. And that is worth everything! We're going away from you, away from the Duke, away from the Moulin Rouge!

Oh love is such a complicated thing isn't it? But as complicated as it portrayed on the movie, I still a hundred percent agree that "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return".

Natal 2010. God is with us.

"How do you spend your christmas this year?"

Ya ya ya... Jawabannya pasti macam-macam seperti 'ke gereja', 'jalan-jalan' atau 'di rumah aja'. Tapi kalau pertanyaannya diganti jadi " Kado apa yang kamu berikan pada kelahiran Tuhanmu hari ini?". Wah agak berat ya. Saya juga ga tau harus jawab apa kalo ditanya seperti itu. Padahal memang itulah intinya, Natal bukan hanya perayaan hura-hura, shopping, sale, perlombaan kemeriahan dekorasi di mal-mal, tapi lebih intinya ke esensi kelahiran Tuhan Yesus di dunia ini.

Duh, kesannya saya serius banget. hehehe. Saya juga bukanlah orang yang paling rohani di dunia ini, doa aja udah jarang (pengakuan dosa deh) tapi somehow saya sadar bahwa dengan adanya Natal kita diingatkan kembali tentang penyertaan Allah di hidup kita. Jadi, tak ada salahnya kita kembali memperbaharui komitmen kita untuk menjadi anak-Nya yang baik dan manis hehehe.

Pagi hari ini saya ikut kebaktian Natal di Gereja Presbyterian Bukit Batok, Singapura. Dalam kebaktian ini juga diadakan baptis anak. Yang membuat saya terenyuh (du ileh) ialah ketika si pendeta menumpangkan tangannya ke kepala anak-anak yang kebanyakan masih balita dan berkata: " Ingatlah Tuhan menyertai kamu dari sekarang hingga selamanya".
Rasanya 'nyes' dada saya. Saya seperti 'ditampar' karena belakangan ini saya sedang merasa mellow, biru, kelabu, atau apalah namanya perasaan tidak mensyukuri apa yang saya punya. Dalam kotbahnya si bapak pendeta yang suaranya soothing itu juga berkata bahwa dengan datangnya Imanuel alias Juruslamat, merupakan bentuk penyertaan Dia kepada kita sampai akhir zaman. Jadi janganlah takut dan gentar. Karena ya itu tadi, Imanuel: Allah beserta kita.

Semoga natal ini kita kembali diingatkan, akan betapa beruntung dan diberkatinya hidup kita karena Dia pasti akan menopang kita dalam segala kesulitan kita.
