Popcorn

Saya nebak: "Dua puluh.

Walhasil kami atur strategi mengantri -duileh.
Pacar antri tiket, saya beli popcorn.
Mbak xxi: Mo nonton apa Pak?
Pacar: Logan

How could this happened?!
Kudu insert emoticon nih biar seru. Emoticon pake dua tangan mengcengkram udara kosong tanda ketidakpercayaan akan nasib malang yang baru saja diterima.
Kami terlalu naif sodara-sodara.
Batal lah kami nonton Logan.
Hancur sudah mimpi-mimpi indah kami. *mimpinya cetek yak haha*

Pesan moralnya sodara-sodara, please make sure you have the movie ticket first- baru beli snack di bioskop.
Be strong like Logan guys!

Leap Year

Say whaaat!
It's February 29th. Something that happens once every four years. Shouldn't we make something memorable for this rare occassion? Like sleeping before 9 P.M. I guess. Hahaha. Well admit it, it's a rare thing to do for us to sleep that early. Most of us has just arrived at home at 9 - from work ofcourse, not from that newly opened bar accross the street :p

Anyways it's always cliche to say this, but geez these two months was fast. Can't believe that tomorow is March already. But it has been a great two months, I felt that I have learned a lot so far this year and I can't wait for another great things that will come in front of me -seriously I have no idea what will happen but I just believed that blessings are ahead for you and me!

So this is just a random notes anyway. Hope you had a great day and see you tomorrow, March! *wink*

Color Therapy

It is very easy to find adult coloring book in your nearest book store now. They say colors is a form of relaxation and can reduce stress. I got this one adult coloring book from a friend and she sugested to use watercolour pencils for a better color result. So viola! Here is the result below, the water gives a smoother finishing effect for the picture. Nice right!

As for whether coloring can make me less stressful? Well, I think if your coloring nicely finish, it can. But for me eating chocolate is still more effective and less time consuming 😆😆😆

Feels like 32

It says 28 degrees, but it feels like 32 degrees out here. I know that I'm not the only one who's feeling the heat but this morning was sooo hot that I couldn't even put my foundation on my face to cover those zits - because I knew it would melt away on my face just seconds after I apply it.

I even consider to chop my hair again like last year.

Dear heat, you are giving me a lot of thoughts this morning.

Btw, next week's forecast said that it's gonna rain the whole week. Dear Jakarta traffic, I know you won't be easy on us on rainy days. So bring it on!!! 🤘

xxxxxxx

Please be informed that this is a 'G' rated blog. Hahaha... The 'xxxxx' title is referred to the cross stitch pattern, and if you didnt know what cross stitch is, you are not alone. I didnt know about it either until my year college when a friend of mine introduced me to it.

At first it I bought a simple pattern, a small one with rabbit pattern on it -my chinese zodiac. Yea you sure gotta put yourself first 😜

Later on I started on a bigger pattern, and I have to admit that it was a form of stress relieve activities. Right now there are probably no space on my parents' house to hang all of it (lebay yes), but no worries my masterpieces, when I'm moving out I'm gonna bring you all and hang you on to the wall (I guess?)

Okay so anywaaay I was cleaning up my drawers and I found two cross stitch patterns that I haven't finished yet. I think that it was more that three years since I've been working on the monochrome pattern but then, I found a receipt dated in 2009 when I first bought the wool for this pattern.

In short, this is a one pattern I've been working since 2009, then I stopped doing it in 2012. Then with a random destined search on my drawer, it takes only one day for me to finish this pattern.

O dear God this is freaking me out. I could've finished it three years ago 😐
And it started to make me wonder whether there are other things in my life that I have given up, that it was so close destined to be mine.

What a creepy thought I had there. Maybe I should have focus on the second pattern that haven't finished yet 😄

The cross stitch pattern that made me think deeply

Happy 2015!

Hey Y'all!!!

Happy new year 2015!

It's the forth day of 2015 and I'm not used to write or type year ‘2015’. Somehow I still recall that it’s still 2014. Well, we’ll get used to it later anyway.

So what’s up everyone? Excited for 2015? Hohoho… This year I’m not writing any NY resolution on a piece of paper. I tried it last year and it doesn’t turn out really good I guess – I believe most of us are facing the same problem too :p -

I can only say that 2014 has been a year full blessing and learning to me. I am fully blessed for everything that happened to me and for all the people who touched my life and teach me many valuable lessons. People don’t meet by chance, we discover ourselves more through the people we met.

So let’s keep the excitement through the year! Yippie!

9 July 2014

Agak sulit ditutupi dengan make up dan teman-temannya. Yang ada ialah mata sembab seperti digebukin.

Jika ditanya kenapa saya menangis, yah... sepertinya once a while menangis itu diperlukan. Ga menjawab pertanyaan sih.

Hello 2014~!

It’s been a while since my last blog post. Where could I’ve possibly been? Well, I’ve been away and preoccupied with few things *cuwih*

So here’s my resolution this year – remembering that the year of the wooden horse has just began: I will write at least 4 (four) posts each month. How’s that?

Hopefully I can keep up with my resolution :p

So this is my first post for February :D

Cheers,

Abeth

Behind Those Aisles

Today I accompanied my mom and went to one of hypermarket in Kelapa Gading. The funny thing is, when I walked into the fruits and vegetables sections, my mind went instantly to the hypermarkets I used to go to when I was still studying in Beijing, Walmart (沃尔玛) and Carrefour (家乐福) . It reminds me of the joy and the luxury (ha?) of strolling around each section of the hypermarkets, trying to read the words (汉字)on the packaging, and guessing what ingredients contained on the items *dork alert*.

I may describe it a little way overboard haha. What I meant to say is, as a student (and unemployed at that time), going to the supermarket/ hypermarket is a form of entertainment for us (me). If I were in Jakarta, going to the mall and strolling around malls for hours is a form of entertainment because some of the items are still much affordable compare to the malls in Beijing. So, how do I substitute my longings to go the malls like I used to in Jakarta? Going to hypermarkets is the answer. HAHAHA...

As a student, my class everyday starts from 8.30 am- 11.45 a.m., after that I didn't have any other activities. So you can say I had plenty of time to play around or get wasted (hahaha no no I use my time wisely :p). The nearest mall to my dorm/ school would take a bus ride or a subway ride, but to get to Walmart, it takes around five - ten minutes walk (depending on my mood) and around fifteen minutes to get to Carrefour. So whenever we get bored, we could just open the door, bring my wallet, (oops don't forget to bring the dorm key) and walk into the hypermarket. Most of the things I bought at the hypermarkets were snacks or bread for my breakfast - and to be honest, I prefer to buy licensed brand products because I believe that I don't need to questioned about the quality of products whatsoever. There are a lot of cheap price products at the markets that sometimes I get scared on how can they get profits with such low price items. Canned beer for example, I thinks it was only one kuai/ can, while the bottled mineral water was more expensive than that.

Anyway.. it's amazing on how such a little thing like going to the hypermarkets can bring such a good memories. When I was still in Beijing, I never thought that Walmart and Carrefour can bring such a sentimental memories about the days careless and free days as a student. Hahaha.. Maybe next time I'm gonna write another ordinary thing that triggers my memory about some good old days. Yeah... those were really good times back then *gazing the window*

Cough in the act

I've been coughing for almost a week now. I ate antibiotics and half bottle of cough syrups and I have no idea when this coughing will be over. Usually in the night time, the cough is getting worse. Bah...

Anyway, I can only pray that my cough will get better soon, as for today, I wanted to cheer myself up by drinking bubble tea, the hot one. So after work, I went to a bubble tea store and ordered a hot honeydew milk tea. When the employee asked me what do I want for the topping, I was actually thinking about having some pearls, but then I decided grass jelly would be much suitable with my condition. Then after the drinks was served, I just realized on how silly I would be if I ordered pearls as the topping.

Lucky I ordered grass jelly topping huh *singlish accent*

Anyway I didn't know how did my cough story end up with a bubble tea review. haha. I ordered the normal sweetness, but I guess since bubble tea is normally came up with ice or cold, it was too sweet for a hot drink. The bubble tea did cheer me up, but I think my cough is getting worse right now hahaha.

Okay lah people *another singlish*, I better go to bed right now. Hopefully with enough sleep and medication I will recover soon!

Cheers,

Abeth

Kiyo's 1st Birthday Party

They say (please define the word 'they'), a child's first birthday should be celebrated. It's almost like a- must thing to do for your children. But let's just be honest, is there anyone of you still remember how does it feel when you were one year old? Yeah.. me neither. But anyway, birthdays, at any age is a celebration - I think. A little (or big, you decide) celebration (and cakes) won't hurt anyone.

So right now I'm gonna share some pictures during my niece's 1st birthday on August 2013. Lately she's been an object to some of my blog posts haha sorry niece. As some of you might notice, party nowadays are getting pretty and prettier. The decorations and dessert table is very important in creating a memorable party (let's admit it, we're gonna share those party pictures on social media anyway), so I think that my niece's 1st birthday party is very cute and 'picture sharing worthy' (please excuse my made up word). It is a 'pin-wheeled' theme birthday party at Frais Patisserie, the place is not big, but it gives you a homey feeling once you're inside the place. They sell many selections of yummy pastries and cakes.

 The dessert table

Not just a regular marshmallow. It's marshmallow with ribbons!

Macaroon tower. Isn't it cute or what?

Label and wrap your own mineral water and viola!

The birthday girl and the narsis aunty.

I think that the pastel color combinations are really cute. At first I felt very bad trying to eat those desserts because I would ruined the dessert table, but desserts are supposed to be inside your tummy, not just for decorations. Hahaha... If there's anyone of you wondered, "did you guys only eat dessert for the birthday party?", the answer is "no", we had nasi tumpeng for lunch. Nasi tumpeng was put on the other table, and no one took a picture beside the nasi tumpeng, we prefer to take pictures around the dessert table area (sadly true haha).

So have you guys been to a kid's birthday party nowadays? What do you think about themed party like this? Do you guys enjoy it? So right now, after Engagement Party, Bridal Shower Party, Wedding Party, and Baby Shower Party, you're gonna need to save some ideas for your kid's first birthday party. So plan ahead guys! :p

Let's raise our cupcakes and make a toast!

Estetikasisasi*

Sebut saja namanya kwetiau A. Lalu dibelakang huruf A ada -kang-nya (lah ketauan dong namanya cyiiin).

This world doesn't evolve around me gitu loh. Walhasil saya makan dulu lah. Sambil menjauhkan diri dari hape selama makan. I think it's a bad habit to continue checking your cellphone during dinner time - and I admit that I need to stop that bad habit.

Kalo istilah dandan, pake blush on di seluruh muka instead of pipi doang.

Promosi gratis. Tul ga?

*Estetikasisasi: this word is not exist in real world.

A week after Beijing

Last night I had a dream about missing my first day at school. It was the new semester at the Chinese Center I’ve studied for the past last two semesters. So it struck me like a lightning bolt (aih ga gitu juga sih), I just got back from Beijing precisely one week, with no intention of going back there anytime soon. But then just when you thought you could move on from something, start a new journey, somehow somewhere some memories uninvitedly comes to your dream.  Geez, do I sound like a broken hearted girl? Hahaha… Trust me; I was a good experience in Beijing for the last two semesters. I just never thought that somewhere below my conscious level; I’ve missed Beijing, like, this early. Hellow… it’s only been a week.

Okay, a brief background story for you. Last year I quit my job and decided to study Mandarin in Beijing for two semesters, the Chinese Center I enrolled named Beijing Open University (BJOU). First semester started on September 2012 and ended on December 2012. During the winter holiday (Jan-Feb 2013) I went back to Jakarta because there wasn’t a lot of people stayed in the dorm (yep I stayed in the dorm) anyway and winter is not the best time for you to travel (my personal opinion).  Then the second semester started on March 2013 and ended in July 2013. So it’s not even a year yet I stayed in Beijing, but it opened my eyes and mind to see another world. Not only I learned about Mandarin, but mostly I learned about dealing with different kind of people I met in Beijing. I’ll miss the fellow students from around the world, I’ll miss our lovely teachers, I’ll miss “laoban” who sell stuffs for us. I wish I could “da bao” you all and bring you guys back to Jakarta.

A lot of stories can be told during my Beijing Experience. I’ll write it down for you guys when I’m not lazy, because as for time, I have all the time in the world; I’m still unemployed hahaha… In the mean time here's a peek of some lovely friends I met in school.

In front of lovely school/ dorm. Yep, it’s a door to school/dorm.

Cheers everyone!

Being 25 (part 3): The Dinner

That night we went to a restaurant named 小六汤包 (Xiao Liu Tang Bao) near the 知春路地铁站 (Zhi Chun Lu station). This was our first time coming here and the place was really nice. Once we come, they greeted us by giving us a warm towel. Then we went to the second floor where the seats were. The service was nice; the waiter was very friendly to us.

My teacher told me that if you went to a restaurant on your birthday, usually they will give you长寿面(chang shou mian)- Birthday Longevity Noodle for free. That time we were asking about this chang shou mian to the waiter, whether they have it or not. The waiter asked whether anyone is having birthday today. Of course lady! It’s me! Then she asked to be excused for a while.

Then when she came back, we asked which one on the menu is chang shou mian. She said: “I cannot say anything, but I don’t think you should order any noodles”.
We were like, why? Why can’t we have a noodle? Was it because the noodle’s here is not tasty? Was is because it took too long to prepare for noodle dish? She said,”I cannot say anything”.
Then we suddenly thought: aaaah!!! She must have prepared a free noodle for us. YAY hahaha
And it is a free noodle (plus a fruit platter) given to us later. The waiters even gathered to sing a happy birthday song to me. Hmmm… interesting. Next time if one of us faking a birthday can we still get a free noodles hahahaha

 The free fruit platter

Tang bao or xiao long bao, you name it! Yummy :9

 The garnish leftover: two rabbits

The end of the dinner. Thanks guys :)

Photos are from Fey's camera. As usual I'm lazy taking pictures :p

Being 25 (part 2): The Mission

Just when I thought I could relax for the rest for the day by replying my birthday greetings on my blackberry, suddenly another thing came up during the class break.  The same team on the midnight ambush was giving me a mission. Well this one I didn’t expect. So I was quite panicked when I read on a paper they given me. I had to give candies to certain people within fifteen minutes class break. Oh ow… I couldn’t think straight at that time. This was all come so sudden: p

Smiling and then panicked! Haha

The Mission!

The Teachers (Mission Completed!)

The Students (Half Completed haha)

I didn’t manage to give all the candies based on the instruction given. The bell has ringed already. Hahaha. But anyway it’s a fun fifteen minutes to spend on my birthday :)

Being 25 (part 1): The Ambush

I have to admit that I spent my few hours of being 24 by being worried of what will happen when I turned 25. Hahaha. The idea of being a quarter century kinda scared me, but the more scary part was I believe that some of my friends were conspiring to do something on Nov 20th, 2012 00:00 a.m.  I smell something fishy back then and I was right!

I believe the idea was started by my roommate (you know who you are!).  On the night before I went to bed around 10 p.m.-ish, which of course I couldn’t had a good sleep. I was worried sick about what will happen. Haha. Then suddenly I woke up around 5 minutes before it turned to 00:00 a.m. My body was feeling kinda shocked and stressed out – but nothing happened yet. Then I waited till its 00:00 a.m. feeling helpless on what will happen next and there they come. They woke me up and started to blindfold me and asked me to go out them.  Actually if I want to escape and kick them out of my room, it wouldn’t be a hard thing to do (haha) but where’s the fun if I do so anyway :P Might just go with their plan.

The midnight ambush

So they took me on the elevator ride to I don’t know where, and then there were some stairs involved.  After a few stroll and two elevator ride, finally they took me to the 6th floor. I’ve never been there before. There was a small place for students who want to rent some space to keep their belongings. Here, finally they took of my blindfold and all of them were gathered together with a birthday cake. The candles were starting burnt out, and the candles started shaped like 28 instead of 25 (nooo… please not that fast!)

Officially 25 and receiving 25 ear pulls birthday tradition

After I blew the candles, made a wish (ehm), cut the cake, took pictures and had a little chat. The party’s over. Hahaha. It’s not even a party anyway. But I’m really thankful for everyone who was giving their time and attention for me that night. Thanks a lot guys, even though your face were all very sleepy but you keep your face cheerful the entire time in front of the camera :p

The boys (clockwise): M, Nick, Jose, Peter

The girls (gone wild LOL): Riana, Fey, Christine, Sellyna

Flash Catch Up

Hello world!

It's been a while (ehm.. more than two months) since the last time I actually write something in this blog - or since I got back to Jakarta, leaving Singapore for good. So where have I been in the past two months? Well, most of my time, I think I did nothing (haha), but I'm about to make some list about what I did. Maybe if I had some extra time, I would make detailed posts about all of it.

1. Took a private Mandarin Class, focusing on HSK test since I will be going to Beijing (for one year study guys, this isn't just bluffing)

2. Went travelling to New Zealand for two weeks (Detailed posts coming soon)

3. Bought a new 'budget' laptop :) I'm saying goodbye to my seven years old Toshiba Laptop

4. Cut my hair short (after more than two years having a long hair)

and last not least I have a newborn niece: Cleona Vanielle Tjiptono. Yeaaay! Gonna start to write about the details soon. One post at a time :)

Loads of love,

Abeth

You Had Me at “Hello”.

The above quote is popularized by the movie Jerry Maguire. I watched Jerry Maguire long time ago but I don’t remember what the movie is about. Hahaha. I just googled this expression and found out that it was popularized that way. The quote just popped out on my mind the moment this ‘thing’ happened to me.

It was an ordinary evening on weekdays. I was on my way to Jurong Point and I took the 181 bus to get there. When I first entered the bus, the 50 something year old bus driver uncle greeted me: “Hello, ni hao”
I was stunned. My reaction that time was replying him with, “Halo uncle, ni hao”.  Luckily I was still able to reply his hospitality. I was the only one who got on the bus that time. So I kinda feel like an important person :p

Then again, when we all reached our destination, he said “Thank you” when we got off the bus. How sweet isn’t he? Instead of the passengers, he’s the one who said thank you. I was really touched by this uncle’s graciousness considering on how people in here usually act. Not that I was being mean or what, but that’s just the reality in here. People are very hard to give their smile to others. So when someone greets you nicely, it’s really a rare occasion. Not everyone gets a privilege like me that time.

With only a simple word: “hello” and your most sincere smile, the world is already become a better place (for me at that time). So, care to give your best smile to the world?

Adam and Eve

Dear God,
If I haven’t opened my eyes to see the man who’s about to be my soul mate please open my eyes. But God, there’s this man and woman who I think should be together. I think I’ll prefer You to open their eyes to each other first than me finding my soul mate. I’m sacrificing my personal benefit for their goods. I can see that they are suitable for each other. Please hear my selfless prayer. Thank you God, Amen.
You might think that I was joking around writing my prayer up there. Hahaha. Well of course some of the part was being exaggerated by me (if you know me well enough, you’d know which part). My point is there’s this two people who I think should be together. They both would be cute to be together. When it comes to love, you see it when you see it, but then again, of course, we can only see and hope that they could be together. *sigh*

I cannot write too much about this, because the more that I wrote about it, the more revealing I will be regarding who are those two person. I would like to keep that confidential (unless you’re asking me personally). I believe that some of you already know who these people I’m talking about are. *wink*

I believe that God create an even partner for all of us. Like Eve, created from Adam’s rib. You can see a spoiled wealthy boy marrying another disgustingly rich irresponsible girl. Same goes with a hardworking man marrying a supportive lady to help them both having a better future. I believe that couples were meant to be together. As for a story about a young rich man marrying a very poor girl, I can say that the possibility for it to be real is so little, but yes, nothing is impossible. It still can happen, just by the slightest chance.

In the end, I can only say, let Your plan happen, not mine. Forgive me for forcing my will to be Yours. But God, will You at least consider my selfless thoughts above? :)
